December 2014 / Guests: 14 / Location: The Nest Birmingham
I teamed up with Birmingham Bloggers, a network of bloggers based in Birmingham about planning a citrus-themed winter brunch. We planned the menu around a small budget and served a four course meal to 14 attendees. I also led an Instagram workshop to teach bloggers how to take great shots for their social media profiles. I provided props, tips and suggestions on how to better their photos and online presence.
DIY Yogurt Bar
Super Green Salad with Satsuma, Pistachio and Tahini
Baked Eggs with Lemon Home Fries
Citrus Cardamom Scone with Grapefruit Cream
Above are some of the dishes served, Super Green Salad with Satsuma, Pistachio and Tahini Dressing along with Baked Eggs with Spinach and Proscuitto.
The DIY yogurt bar involved an interactive portion of the brunch, allowing guests to build their own parfaits to shoot for their Instagram. The bar included toppings like Maracona almonds, zante currants, an arrangement of greek yogurts, fresh berries and granolas.

“Rachel put together a delicious spread of food for us. I am generally a picky eater but as I am getting older I am getting to the point where I will actually try things before I decide I don’t like something. I have to admit upon reading the menu I was a little apprehensive about a baked egg. It isn’t something I would generally order on my own but man was it delicious. It was packed full of flavor and texturally interesting. Her super green salad and Citrus potatoes were equally as good.” –Layken of SouthernScripted
